Founded in 1999, Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) manages more than 1.3M SF of innovation-focused workspace, laboratories, and event space across North America, Europe and Asia, and hosts more than 3100 companies.
Over 10,000 companies have called CIC home since its inception, including notable startups such as Android, and major companies including Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon.
CIC and its affiliated labs have seen ~$17B in venture capital funds invested in its start-ups. CIC is a founding partner and co-creator of LabCentral, an innovative wet laboratory space that housed companies receiving 21% of all series-A biotech funding in the US in 2022, and a co-founder of MassRobotics, the world's largest shared robotics innovation facility.
CIC supports various industry clusters across its innovation campuses, including the offshore wind cluster in Providence, and hubs like SeaAhead, C10 Labs' AI Hub, as well as the Massachusetts Mobility Hub.
Brookings Institute and Startup Genome
Venture Café Global Institute (VCGI) oversees Venture Café, the world’s largest weekly gathering of entrepreneurs. Venture Café operates in 15 cities globally with attendance of over 700,000 innovators since inception. The Thursday Gatherings attracts on average more than 300 attendees per week at each site. In each city, Venture Café offers a network, local programming, storytelling opportunities, learning environments and supporting resources, to advance innovation and entrepreneurship. Venture Café has been named by the Brookings Institute and Startup Genome as a best practice for activating innovation ecosystems.
